By Pastor Domenico Danesi

The fall is here. The air is cooler, the days are shorter, and the Fall Festival is slated for Saturday, October 14th from 11am - 4pm. The Fall Festival has drawn a wonderful community response the last two years and we are praying that continues. God has so graciously planted Koinonia Fellowship in a spot where there is much land to be utilized. The “Gospel Gazebo” is the platform for our musicians and speakers. The softball field will be utilized for pony rides, the bounce house, duck pond, prayer tent, pumpkins, face painting and several other activities. The Father’s Heart will be on hand passing out free meals from noon - 2pm. Last year they served over 300 free meals to the community and our church family!

Everything about the festival is free. “Freely receive, freely give”. Do you remember in Acts 3 when the lame man was waiting at the Gate called Beautiful? He asks for a donation and the response of Peter and John is this: “Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.’” (Acts 3:6) The best thing in life is free, eternal life!

We have been given so much. It really is true that you can never out give God. We know as believers that the Son of God, Christ Jesus, is the ultimate gift to mankind. This should motivate all of us to get the word out to others. Do we really believe in heaven and hell? Do we really believe that the gospel is the cure for everyone who walks this earth? If we do, then there is an urgency that is placed on hearts by the Holy Spirit to go and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). We must get the truth out to East Rochester in word and deed. Let’s not make excuses for not sharing our faith. Pray and ask God for opportunities to share the gospel and give you boldness when you do. The apostle Paul asked the Ephesians to pray for him: “And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” (Ephesians 6:19-20) Paul left an example for us. His request was for this: 1. utterance (Holy Spirit directed speech); 2. make known the mystery (clear explanation); 3. boldness (speaking with the authority of God).

Our hope for the Fall Festival is two-fold: 1. that families would enjoy the love of God and each other during the Festival, and 2. that those who do not know Jesus would “rise up and walk” just as the lame man did. We pray that their eyes would be opened and that they would be set free from the captivity of sin.

Please pray for the weather and consider joining us on Saturday, October 14th at the Edmund Lyon Park for a day of freely receiving and freely giving. We are praying for your family.
