Dear Koinonia,

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NIV)

These words from King Solomon resound in my mind, specifically in their musical form. Some of you may be familiar with the song “Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There is a Season)” by The Byrds. A song which holds specific importance to me, as it was one of the songs I sang at my grandmother’s funeral 2 years ago.

As you have known since August of last year, my time here at Koinonia was set to end this summer, and now that is happening. It's July of 2017 and my 3+ years here serving as Youth Director have come to an end.

I do not want to belabor this fact or go into every little reason for this decision, but to put it simply, I am moving into the next season of my life, a season of growth and union in marriage with my wonderful fiancé (soon to be wife). Due to this fact, and the strong conviction that I need to be able to devote as much attention and time as is possible to Megan as we lay the foundation of our marriage together, I have chosen to step down from my position.

I want to thank every member of Koinonia Fellowship, every volunteer, deacon, elder, pastor, and ministry leader I have had the privilege of working and growing with. You have all welcomed me with open arms, supported me in leading Accelerate, and given me a church home which was greatly needed these past three years.

I want to assure you that I am leaving the youth ministry here in the very capable hands of our youth ministry team of youth leaders as well as the leadership team here at Koinonia. There is no doubt in my mind that they will do an amazing job in planning and preparing for the fall program when youth group recommences. I am confident that the foundation we have laid in these past three years will be built upon and added to and that the best years at Accelerate are yet to come

I leave you with these words from the Book of Isaiah: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

The Lord is the Sustainer of Koinonia Fellowship and He is the Sustainer of Accelerate. I leave with thankfulness in my heart and anticipation for what He has in store for all of you.

My deepest thanks and kindest regards,

Collin Zweigle
